Like any job, a career as Cabin Crew requires previous experience. But what jobs can you do to help you get a job as Cabin Crew?

What jobs can I do to help me get a job as Cabin Crew?

Customer service

Customer service plays a large part in a Cabin Crew members job. Cabin Crew need to deal effectively with a variety of passengers and their needs. Airlines want to provide the highest level of customer service to their passengers, as a good standard of customer service will promote a positive image of the airline.

When recruiting airlines will, therefore, look for candidates who they think will be able to provide their passengers will a good standard of customer service.

You will need to be able to demonstrate this in your application, and a common interview question is to think of an example when you provided excellent customer service.

Experience in a job that requires customer service is therefore very beneficial. An example would be working in a shop.

Airline jobs

When applying for a Cabin Crew job, it can also be useful to have experience in other airline jobs. While this is not essential, it can be beneficial as these jobs will allow you to gain knowledge and understanding of the airline and airport. Examples include:

Passenger service agents – are involved in checking in passengers when they arrive at the airport.

Meet and assist – are involved with helping passengers with restricted mobility move to and from the aircraft.

Aircraft dispatchers – ensure the safe and quick turnaround of an aircraft. They make sure all the different departments have done their part to prepare the aircraft between flights. Once they are satisfied that everything is ready they will then dispatch the aircraft.

While experience is an essential part of your application, there are also other things you’ll need to do to help secure yourself a job as Cabin Crew.
